scatter graph

scatter graph
A graph that plots the patterns of items in relation to two variables set out along the x and y axes. From a scatter graph, a pattern of *correlation between the plotted points can be estimated by visually drawing a line of best fit among the points, or calculated more precisely by regression analysis. Although easy to prepare and understand, the results of scatter graph analysis should be treated with caution, owing to the subjectivity involved in estimations of a line of best fit.
