1. An individual element of a *spreadsheet grid that contains numbers, mathematical formulae, or text. Cells occur at intersection points between a spreadsheet’s rows and columns, from which they derive specific grid references. 2. In manufacturing, an operational unit of machines, personnel, or other resources dedicated to a discrete task or series of tasks. Production cells are often used to control operational flows in *just-in-time environments.
