Chinese walls

Chinese walls
An information barrier between an organization’s departments and divisions to block the dissemination of sensitive information. Chinese walls are intended to prevent *conflicts of interest or the abuse of *price-sensitive information. In multidisciplinary organizations that include external auditors, Chinese walls are an important mechanism to ensure auditor independence. The term derives from the defensive walls erected around ancient China.
