A regional accounting organization, based in Kenya. Formed in 1989, ECSAFAs membership consists of national accounting organizations in the African regions of its title. In addition, it has a number of "observer" members, including the *Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the *World Bank. The ECSAFA Web site describes its mission as follows: To "build and promote the accountancy profession in the Eastern, Central and Southern regions of Africa in order that it is, and is perceived by accountants, businesses, financiers and governments, to be an important factor in the economic development of the region."
