1. An alternative term for *fixed cost. 2. Costs related to the setting up of production batches. All things being equal, large production batches minimize the impact of fixed charges like the setting up and calibration of machines. 3. The right of a lender to take possession of a specific asset should a borrower *default on the repayment of a *loan, or should another specified event (such as bankruptcy) take place. A fixed charge establishes an asset as Collateral for a debt: An example is a *mortgage on a property. Compare *floating charge.
