ICAEW Britain’s main professional accounting and external auditing organization. The ICAEW was incorporated by royal charter in 1880 by combining pre-existing regional English accounting institutes. Its publications include a number of journals, magazines, and newsletters, such as * Accountancy, *Accounting and Business Research, *Audit News, *Internal Control, and *True and Fair. Its Web site describes its main activities as the "education and training of students, continuing professional development for members, maintenance of professional and ethical standards, cutting-edge work on technical accounting issues, and provision of advice and services to members." ICAEW members are known as *chartered accountants and are allowed the designatory letters ACA or FCA. The latter represents fellowship and is determined by seniority.
