IAAER An international, scholarly accounting organization. The IAAER was founded in 1984, and its web site states its mission as follows: To "promote excellence in accounting education and research on a worldwide basis and to maximize the contribution of accounting academics to the development and maintenance of high quality, globally recognized standards of accounting practice." Institutional members of the IAAER include the *American Accounting Association, the * British Accounting Association, and the * Canadian Academic Accounting Association. Its activities focus on the promotion of accounting research and teaching, and its publications include the * Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting and a newsletter, the Cosmos Accounting Chronicle.
