make-or-buy decision
An appraisal of the relative costs and benefits of manufacturing an item or buying it from a *supplier. Both *quantitative and *qualitative considerations may be included in the decision-making process. An example of a qualitative factor is the *risk of reliance on suppliers for essential components in a *production process.
